Mushroom Fry

Mushrooms (Button variety) 25
Onion medium size (cut into 1/4 inch thin slices) 1
Garlic cloves (thinly sliced) 3
Green chilly pepper 1 or 2
Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon or according to taste
Turmeric powder a pinch
Salt to taste
Oil 3 teaspoon

Clean the mushrooms with a paper towel and slice them. (Do not wash the store bought mushrooms in water as they get water logged.) Slice the onion to ¼ inch thin slices. Thinly slice the garlic. Cut the green chilly pepper as round thin slices.
Heat up a saucepan and pour the oil in it. When it is warm add the sliced onion and sauté till the slices become transparent. Now add the garlic and chilly pepper slices and mix the contents. Let it heat up for 2 minutes. Add to this the red chilly powder and turmeric and mix well. Add required amount of salt, cover and cook them for a minute or two. Now add the sliced mushrooms to this spicy onion and mix well. Cover the pan and cook for 2 minutes. Remove the cover and let it get fried by stirring the contents occasionally.( 5 -6 minutes) When the oil starts to sizzle around the mushroom slices it is done. This goes well with rice.
